Florida man sits on gun, shoots self in penis

A man from Florida suffered a self-inflicted bullet after accidentally shooting himself in the penis.

And local outlets report the man may now face criminal charges for possessing the gun in the first place.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Cedrick Jelks ran into his girlfriend's house on Friday after unwittingly sitting down on a loaded gun, which went off shortly after and unloaded a bullet into his groin.

Jelk's girlfriend rushed him to the hospital where he immediately underwent surgery, reported WKMG-TV.

Jelks has been arrested on several occasions prior to this incident, including a previous conviction for cocaine possession in 2004.

His condition is currently unknown.
