Woman delays flight for hours after throwing coins in the engine for good luck

A woman in China was responsible for a flight delay on Tuesday.

The 80-year-old with the last name Qiu threw coins in one of the plane's engines for good luck, Metro UK reports. Everyone on China Southern Airlines flight CZ380 was then grounded for several hours.

Apparently, the superstitious woman did not have a very good aim: eight of nine coins she threw missed, but one was lodged in the engine. She and almost 150 other passengers had to be escorted off the plane.

Weibo, China Southern Airlines said in a statement, "A senior passenger threw coins to the plane's engine and delayed the flight. The passenger involved has been taken away by police."
