Former NFL linebacker Ryan Jones was one of three men shot in Reno on Sunday.

Jones played for the New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens after becoming the first player in Montana Tech school history to sign an NFL contract.

According to a report from the Reno Gazette-Journal, Jones died at the scene as a result of the shooting.

From the report:

About 8:20 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the 200 block of Talus Way, north of Rancho San Rafael Park, where they found three men who'd been shot. One of the men – later identified as Jones – died at the scene.

The other victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening conditions.

After his football career was over, Jones tried his hand at mixed martial arts. He won his last fight in May.

Jones was only 26. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
