Chris Christie is now the least popular governor in 20 years

Chris Christie just broke a new record.

The New Jersey governor is now the least popular governor in 20 years, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

It found only 15 percent of New Jersey voters approve of the job Christie is doing.

That's the worst approval rating for any governor of any state surveyed by Quinnipiac in two decades.

His disapproval rating is at 81 percent, up from 77 percent in December.

Even a majority of his own party disapproves of him -- that number stands at 58 percent.

This comes as Christie recently saw two of his former top aides be convicted for their roles in the Bridgegate scandal.

The ongoing opioid epidemic has also had a major impact in his state.

Christie was once an early favorite for the 2016 Republican nomination but ended up ultimately supporting Donald Trump after he dropped out in February of last year.
