Report: Dennis Rodman to visit North Korea

NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman has, in the past, shared a relationship with North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un that many have found strange.

It appears that two are still friendly.

CNN reports Rodman will be touching down in North Korea on Tuesday.

He was seen at the Beijing International Airport but Rodman didn't respond to questions, according to CNN. However, North Korean officials did confirm to the media outlet that Rodman is expected.

The report of Rodman's visit comes amid rising tensions as the reclusive Asian nation has continued its weapons testing.

Thursday marked North Korea's fourth missile test within four weeks' time. Troy Stangarone, the Korea Economic Institute of America's senior director for congressional affairs, predicts it's capable of performing such trials at a pace of one every two weeks for the remainder of the year.

The purpose of Rodman's visit is not known at this time. However, he happens to be one of the few people in the U.S. who has met both President Trump and the North Korean leader.

He was once a contestant on Trump's 'Celebrity Apprentice' and first visited North Korea in 2013 for the filming of a VICE News program.

As the Los Angeles Times notes, "That visit was followed by others in which Rodman ate and drank, smoked cigars, played basketball and sailed on a yacht with Kim."
