Mary Kay Letourneau's husband Vili Fualaau reportedly files for separation

Twenty years after their relationship sparked international headlines, Mary Kay Letourneau's husband Vili Fualaau filed for legal separation earlier this month, according to a TMZ report published on Tuesday.

The Seattle teacher was married with four children when she began an affair with Fualaau, who was a student in her sixth-grade class at the time.

Letourneau, then 34 years old, was forced to make the relationship public after becoming pregnant by her then 12-year-old student.

The Seattle teacher was arrested in 1997 when her husband found out about the affair. She served a total of seven years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree child rape.

Letourneau and Fualaau ultimately married and have two daughters together.
