Melania Trump delivers rare speech closing out overseas trip

Melania Trump has concluded her first overseas trip as First Lady.

During a speech to US military members at a naval base in Italy, the first lady said she would never forget the women and children she met on her nine-day tour through Europe and the Middle East.

The Trumps visited Saudi Arabia, Israel, Belgium and Italy, where Mrs. Trump had the opportunity to not only visit children's hospitals, but to meet Pope Francis.

"It has been a great trip and many strides have been made," the first lady said. "My husband worked very hard on behalf of our country and I'm very proud of him."

She also took the time thank those serving in the military for their "selfless commitment."

According to CNN, Mrs. Trump packed a bag for every event she attended, and she met with State Department officials to make sure she wouldn't make any cultural slip ups.

She made headlines this week after wearing a floral jacket around Sicily priced at more than $51,000.
