First lady Melania Trump ventures to NATO dinner with gay first spouse

While President Donald Trump attended meetings with world leaders at this week's NATO conference, first lady Melania Trump has been mixing and mingling with other first spouses in attendance.

Many recognizable spouses of world leaders were photographed at a dinner for the NATO conference in Brussels on Thursday.

But one less recognizable face belongs to Gauthier Destenay, the husband of Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.

Bettel is the world's only openly gay Prime Minister.

The couple entered a civil partnership in 2010 and after Luxembourg's legislators approved gay marriage they wed in 2015.

At the dinner, Destenay and Trump joined the First Lady of France Brigitte Macron, First Lady of Turkey Emine Gulbaran Erdogan, Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Ingrid Schulerud, Desislava Radeva, Amelie Derbaudrenghien, Mojca Stropnik and First Lady of Iceland Thora Margret Baldvinsdottir.

President Trump dominated headlines on Thursday after he appeared to push Montenegro Prime Minister Dusko Markovic out of the way during a photo-op with NATO leaders.
