Paul Ryan shares his newfound love for GIFs

Updated

House Speaker Paul Ryan discussed his newfound love for GIFs on Wednesday in an interview with Axios reporter Mike Allen.

He admitted on stage at the News Shapers event that he likes to use the moving images in text messages that he sends to fellow politicians.

"These things are awesome!" he said.

Allen brought up the fact that Ryan is known for texting members of the House, and recently, his texts have a new twist.

"I send GIFs to people who really don't expect it from me. I got one with Britney Spears doing this [a thumbs up], Captain Obvious," Ryan said.

Ryan didn't even know GIFs existed until three weeks ago, but he is delighted to be using them now.

"Someone sent me one. I got one with Stifler here, doing 'Yes!' It's an 'Old School' ... He's got a big mullet here," he said.

Thankfully, it appears as though Ryan won't be limiting his GIF usage anytime soon.

"These things are pretty damn funny, I think. I send this to people who really wouldn't expect it from me, and it's fun to watch their reactions," he added.
