Salem representative disputes President Trump's 'witch hunt' comment: 'I can confirm that this is false'

A Massachusetts lawmaker took to Twitter on Thursday to dispute an early morning tweet by President Donald Trump.

After former FBI Director Robert Meuller was appointed as special counsel on the Russia investigation, Trump tweeted his frustration, claiming it "is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"

Shortly after, Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton stepped in to drop some historical knowledge, saying, "As the Representative of Salem, MA, I can confirm that this is false."

Moulton, a Marine veteran and Harvard University graduate, appears to be referring to the 1692 Salem witch trials. They resulted in the executions of 20 people.
