"A family of five wanted to sit in a certain area and the family of two came and disrupted that area. They wouldn't move so they pretty much stood their ground," Arlington alumni Octavius Adams told the local outlet.

Adams said the woman seen in the brown dress told the family that they couldn't save seats before hitting a man and shoving a young woman. Eventually, a woman started pulling another woman's hair.

Earl Farrell, the public information officer for the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, told AOL News that neither the Shelby County Sheriff's Office nor Memphis police were involved in diffusing the indent.

Arlington Community Schools Chief of Staff Jeffery Mayo told AOL News that the ceremony was unaffected by the incident thanks to church's security team, which promptly removed the adults from the ceremony.

"It was unfortunate that a couple of adults in the audience exhibited the behavior they did prior to the ceremony beginning and thus has caused a distraction from the celebration of our students' accomplishments," he said of the incident at the ceremony, for which 500 students were in attendance.

"It is our hope that the focus will shift to our students and their accomplishments instead of the poor decisions by adults in attendance. Congratulations to our 2017 graduates of Arlington High School."
