Second Lady Karen Pence gives exclusive tour of her home

Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen Pence gave FOX59 an exclusive look at their new Washington, D.C., home.

The second lady shared what a normal morning is like at the residence with reporter Fanchon Stinger. The home at Number One Observatory Circle is usually not open for tours like the White House.

She started with the grand formal entrance, where the couple often greets important international guests like the President of Ireland and his wife.

Karen Pence then led Stinger to the dining room, where she explained that she honored other people who have lived in the house -- former Vice President Dan Quayle and his wife Marilyn. She used the chairs they left behind as inspiration for her decorating.

"I was talking to Marilyn Quayle and I said 'we still have those chairs, so we will take that same fabric that you picked and use it to coordinate the first floor,'" she told the station.

The second lady showed off the sun room where the vice president and his staff often have morning meetings. She even gave a tour of her favorite area in the home -- the wraparound porch.

She also showcased a watercolor painting that she did of the home, which she hopes to use for gifts and notecards for the second family. She said she has painted a picture of every home they've lived in.

Karen Pence is not sure what she will leave behind at the house, but they did recently have some Indiana bees delivered.
