Barron Trump, Malia Obama among presidential first kids to attend school while dad is president

A president takes on a serious duty when they step into their role as commander in chief, a burden of responsibility that is often equally felt by spouse and family alike.

Presidential children are no exception to that rule.

A recent report revealed President Trump and first lady Melania Trump's 11-year-old son, Barron, will attend St. Andrew's Episcopal School. The school is located in Potomac, Maryland, is about 15 miles from the White House and costs just under $40,000 in annual tuition.

Barron joins a long line of presidential first children who will attend school during the time of their father's presidency.

President John F. Kennedy with son, John Jr., and daughter, Caroline

Caroline Kennedy attended The Brearley School and Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City and graduated from Concord Academy in Massachusetts in 1975. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts from Radcliffe College at Harvard University.

The late John F. Kennedy Jr. Kennedy attended private schools in New York City, starting at Saint David's School, moving to Collegiate and later finishing high school at Phillips Andover in Massachusetts. He later attended Brown University where he majored in American studies.

Both Luci and Lynda attended the National Cathedral School for Girls for high school. Luci later attended Georgetown University School of Nursing, while Lynda graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.

Both Julie Nixon Eisenhower and Tricia Nixon Cox attended the Sidwell Friends School in Washington for high school before Nixon's leaving office. They both then graduated from the Chapin School in New York. Julie Nixon Eisenhower later graduated from Smith College, while Tricia graduated from Boston College.

Susan Ford attended Mount Vernon College for Women (now part of George Washington University). Michael Gerald Ford attended Wake Forest University, while Steven and John Gardner Ford attended Utah State University.

Amy Carter attended public school in Washington, first attending Stevens Elementary School and then the Rose Hardy Middle School.

None of the Reagans lived in Washington during their father's presidency. 

The elder two, Maureen and Michael, attended boarding school from a young age. The younger two, Patti and Ronald, his children with Nancy, also attended boarding school.

George later went on to graduate from Yale University. Jeb graduated from University of Texas. Neil graduated from Tulane University. Marvin graduated from the University of Virginia. Dorothy graduated from Boston College.

Both Barbara and Jenna attended Austin High School. Jenna later went on to graduate from University of Texas at Austin, while Barbara graduated from Yale University.

11-year-old Barron currently attends Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in Manhattan, but it was recently announced that he will attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal in Maryland come fall 2017.
