Conspiracy theories swirl over strange photo of man with a shark
A strange image of a butt naked man straddling a freshly caught shark in a boat has been sweeping the internet.
The "manhunt" as to the identity of the nude person was triggered by wildlife TV show host Anneka Svenska, who tweeted the photo last week.
"Who is this man?" Svenska tweeted on May 5. "Please find him & ask him why he did this? Where is the humor in humiliating slaughtered animals?"
As the photo burned its way through social media, some thought they recognized him as the University of Florida football coach Jim McElwain, but he has flat-out denied it.
"First and foremost, I don't know who it is, but it isn't me," he said.
Another leading candidate was billionaire Jimmy John Liautaud, the founder of the Jimmy John's sandwich chain.
"It's not him," a Jimmy John's rep told Inside Edition. "That has nothing to do with him."
He gave up big game hunting in 2015 after activists threatened to boycott Jimmy John's. In the past, he has posted shots of himself with an elephant, rhino, grizzly bear and a leopard, among other animals.
Inside Edition reached out to the woman who brought the photo to wide spread attention to find out how 'she' got the picture but has not heard back for comment.
