Shocking video shows goose knock out power to thousands in Michigan

A Sunday power outage in Muskegon, Michigan, left about 4,500 Consumer Energy customers in the dark -- and it can all be traced back to a single animal.

Resident Willard Hill recorded the entire incident on dash cam video and posted it to Facebook, where it has been viewed more than 69,000 times.

The shocking footage shows a goose fly right into a 7,200 volt power line which is about a half mile from the electrical substation, according to WXMI.

Upon impact, the surrounding scenery lights up in a flash of bright white until the goose can be seen dropping to the road seconds later.

The incident reportedly caused Muskegon residents to lose power for about five hours.

Unfortunately, the goose did not survive the impact.
