Two killed, several wounded in shooting during a Chicago memorial

A tragic incident occurred during a memorial for a 26-year-old in Chicago and it was gang related.

Two people were shot and killed and 8 others wounded during an outdoor memorial service that was being held for the young man, Daniel Cardova, who had been killed that same day.

Police believe the shooting was a gang retaliation hit.

First Deputy Superintendent Kevin Navarro said two masked gunmen opened fire at the scene and fled in an SUV.

No suspects are in custody for the shootings. More than 950 murders have been reported in the Southwest Side of the city since the start of 2016.
