A resolution calling for a Congressional investigation of President Trump for potentially impeachable offenses has been passed by the Los Angeles City Council in a unanimous vote.

L.A. City Council member Bob Blumenfield led the move, which passed in a 10-zero vote.

According to The Independent, Blumenfield said it's not about disagreeing with Trump's policies but about "conflict of interest" instead.

Critics say Trump may have breached the Foreign Emoluments Clause, which says the president cannot accept financial benefits from any foreign power.

Since taking office, Trump has criticized by those who believe he has not separated himself from his real estate empire.

According to the Independent, Blumenfield also alleges that the president is set to earn "millions of dollars in licensing fees" when the new Trump Tower opens in Manila.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a federal lawsuit against Trump in January alleging he was violating the Emoluments Clause. At the time, Trump dismissed the suit, saying it was "without merit."
