Powerful photo of a girl scout standing up to a neo-Nazi goes viral

Updated

A photograph of a girl scout at a far-right rally in the Czech Republic is going viral for a great reason.

In the photo, the scout is pictured squaring off face-to-face with a neo-Nazi member during the rally in Brno, Czech Republic, while appearing fairly calm and collected.

The photo, which has already amassed over thousands of "likes" on Facebook since its online debut Tuesday, was taken by photographer Vladimír Čičmanec and posted to the World Organization of the Scout Movement's page, which captioned the image, saying:

"People from all walks of life, and #Scouts among them came to the streets during an extreme right march yesterday, to express their support for values of diversity, peace, and understanding."

A member of the Czech Scouting organization, Anička Čámská, took to Facebook to share more information about the protest.

"There was some kind of far-right march, so a bunch of people went there as well to protest in a peaceful way — they were dancing and painting," she wrote. "Later, more people came to protest against neo-Nazis with drums and so on."
