A 10-year-old girl was tragically killed in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on Sunday after a massive tree fell on her family's camper, according to WPMT.

Local authorities stated that the young girl was asleep inside the vehicle at Oma's Family Campground at around 8:30 a.m. when the tree fell, trapping her underneath it.

Although emergency crews were able to free the child from the wreckage, she later died from her injuries.

Connie Masse, the owner of the campground, told WPMT the tree also hit two other campers in its wake.

"You know you come camping to enjoy, relax and you know just unwind," Masse said. "You never expect something like this to happen."

Police say the girl's death is being classified as an accident and do not plan to release further information at this time.
