Oddsmakers predict if Trump will resign or be impeached

The likelihood of President Trump leaving his first term early, either through impeachment or resignation, has reached 1/1 odds, according to a British gambling company.

In a news release issued in mid-February, Ladbrokes said that after Trump won the election in November, he had a 3/1 odds of an early first-term ending, but those numbers continued to change until they evened out.

"The money is showing no signs of slowing down and we've been forced to cut Trump's impeachment odds accordingly. We've taken five times the amount of bets on him failing to see out his full term than on him doing so," a company representative, Jessica Bridge, said.

"Ladbrokes didn't even offer odds on Obama being impeached or resigning, which speaks volumes about the current president," Bridges added.

The site takes other bets on what it calls "Donald Trump Specials."

As it currently stands, there are 4/5 odds that that he will serve a full term, 2/5 odds that he will not be re-elected in 2020, and 5/2 odds that he will visit Russia before the end of this year.

As Matthew Shaddick who oversees political betting for the company told Inverse about Trump's numbers, "I think it's a reaction to continued probes into Russian influence plus the health care bill failure."

Meanwhile, American University professor Allan Lichtman, who is one of the few experts who predicted Trump's election win, has said he also thinks Trump will be impeached early, possibly due to charges of corrupt financial dealings.
