President Donald Trump welcomed NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the White House on Wednesday afternoon.

After the pair meets in private, they took questions during a joint press conference. Trump and Stoltenberg discussed America's commitment to NATO, as well as last week's chemical attack in Syria.

During his 2016 campaign, Trump called the North Atlantic alliance "obsolete" and insisted other members of the organization increase their contributions. However, the Trump administration has recently made a series of supportive statements about NATO.

The press conference began at 4 p.m. EDT.
