Donald Trump is the first president to utilize Twitter in such a candid -- and sometimes combative -- way.

The 45th president has retweeted stories and aired out his opinions, taking aim at businesses, foreign countries and even former President Barack Obama.

Trump inherited the @POTUS account and its 14 million followers from Obama when he took office in January. The presidential Twitter handle has accrued some 16.6 million followers, yet Trump has opted to continue using his personal @realDonaldTrump account on a regular basis.

The commander in chief's personal account has garnered 27.8 million followers, but he only follows 43 accounts.

The lucky accounts that @realDonaldTrump has selected to follow include his wife, Melania, and his adult children -- as well as members of his administration. And there are even some unexpected members of the media.
