Student goes missing after covering room walls in mysterious symbols, writing

Police are searching for a 24-year-old psychology student who went missing recently, leaving the walls of his room covered with mysterious writings and symbols.

Bruno Borges disappeared on March 27 in the western state of Acre. Brazilian television aired images of his room, showing tiny encrypted writing and symbols covering the walls from floor to ceiling. A large statue of Italian monk and philosopher Giordano Bruno was featured in the middle of the room as well as religious-themed art on the walls.

According to Borges' parents, their son left behind a key for unlocking the code and the writings comprise 14 complete books.

His parents, Denise and Athos Borges, said the work was done in 22 days while they were gone on vacation recently. Borges' brother and sister had remained in the house while their parents were gone and reported that their brother had remained inside his locked room the entire time.

Local media reported that the work to Borges room cost some $6,000 USD and that he had acquired the funds from a cousin who had read 15 pages of his writing.

Police are investigating but have not publicly offered any theories.
