March Madness visual recap: The best pictures from the championship game

Last night, the 2017 NCAA champions were crowned.

The Gonzaga Bulldog were fired up for their first chance to compete in a national title game, while the seasoned North Carolina Tar Heels hoped to add a 6th NCAA championship title to their school's legacy. The Tar Heels last national title was in 2009 when they defeated Michigan State 89-72.

At 9:20 p.m., the two remaining teams walked onto the court of the University of Pheonix Stadium for what could be a life-changing game for many, depending on the outcome.

UNC may have been the first to score in this game, but Gonzaga pushed on closing out the first half with a 3 point lead: 35-32.

In the second half, both teams kept fans guessing, as the team leading the game changed frequently. Finally, in the last two minutes of the game, the score was tied 65-65 promising a heart racing final games for fans and competitors alike.

With a dunk from Justin Jackson, the Tar Heels sealed their fate and won the game by 6 points and a final score of 71-65.

Even though the Gonzaga Bulldogs didn't claim the title, they hit milestone after milestone in this year's competition, marking their first time ever competing in the final four and the final match of the tournament.
