Ivanka Trump tweets about 'gender pay gap' on Equal Pay Day

Updated

Ivanka Trump tweeted out a message in celebration of Equal Pay Day on Tuesday, saying women deserve "equal pay for equal work."

"#EqualPayDay is a reminder that women deserve equal pay for equal work," Ivanka Trump wrote in a Tuesday morning tweet. "We must work to close the gender pay gap!"

President Trump's eldest daughter has been a prominent figure in her father's White House, and it was recently announced that she would be assuming a role as an unpaid adviser in her father's administration -- making her an official government employee.

Ivanka Trump helped coordinate recent meetings between Merkel and German business leaders during the chancellor's U.S. visit, and has focused her White House efforts on women's leadership and empowerment in multiple ways since her father's presidential inauguration.
