Man sentenced for biting the head off his girlfriend's puppy

A man in Lares, Puerto Rico, will serve seven years in prison for biting the head off of a Chihuahua then punching his girlfriend.

The two-month-old puppy died instantly, according to El Vocero.

The paper reports that Luis Arroyo, 40, had been living with his girlfriend for about six months when the attack occurred in February. He has no history of domestic abuse.

According to FOX News, a judge also ordered Arroyo to pay a $3,000 fine. He pled guilty to assaulting his girlfriend, who owns the dog.
