The victim did not live at the Forest Houses. Police listed her address as being about 1 1/2 miles away in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.

Police sources told PIX11 News on Tuesday that Alder had gone to the Forest Houses to settle a dispute with the father of her friend's child. It's still unclear what led to the deadly shooting.

Late into the night, distraught family members and friends gathered near the scene. Condolences poured in for the young woman on Facebook.

PIX11 News' cameras captured a handcuffed man being taken away by officers, but police said no arrests have been made in the slaying.
