Company announces recall of nearly 1 million pounds of chicken for possible 'metal objects'

Updated

OK Food Inc. announced a recall of nearly 1 million pounds of breaded chicken products sold across the nation after customers reported finding "metal objects" in the food.

About 933,300 pounds of breaded chicken products sold by the Oklahoma company fall under the recall, according to notice issued Thursday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The chicken is old under various brand names in stores across the country, including Wal-Mart's Great Value store brand.

The chicken products with establishment No. P-7092 in the USDA mark of inspection might be tainted.

The recall was issued after five people complained about finding metal in the chicken.

Personnel with the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service also found metal.

OK Food Inc. found that the food was tainted by metal from a conveyor belt.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported.
