Dick Vitale: Michigan can win the NCAA Tournament

Updated

The Wolverines are playing as well as any team left in the tournament.

Can Michigan, a No. 7 seed, win the NCAA Tournament?

ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale says yes.

Vitale told the Detroit News he firmly believes this Wolverines team has the potential to win the whole thing.

"They can beat anybody," legendary broadcaster Dick Vitale said over the phone Tuesday night. "They're a fun team. They've got that incredible belief, and that's what it's about. It's about momentum, having momentum.

"They are capable of winning the whole thing."

Vitale added that he's learned the Big Ten was a lot better than people thought it was this year, so the Wolverines' mid-season struggles might have been a bit overblown.

"We have learned the Big Ten is a lot tougher than we thought," Vitale said. "Tom Izzo was right when he complained about the Big Ten not getting enough love."

Michigan, the No. 7 seed in the South Region, is set to take on No. 3 seed Oregon in the Sweet 16 Thursday night in Kansas City. The game is set to tip off at 7:09 p.m. E.T. and will be televised on CBS.
