Who was Trump married to before Melania? Meet all the president's wives

If there is one thing many could agree on, it's that Donald Trump enjoys the company of beautiful women. The 45th U.S. president has been married more times than any of his predecessors, having sworn himself to holy matrimony before God to three women: Ivana Trump, Marla Maples and Melania Knauss-Trump.

Ivana Zelníčková Trump
Years married: 15 (1977-1992)

Trump married his first wife, a Czechoslovakia-born model name Ivana Zelníčková, in 1977. During their 15-year marriage, the pair raised three children: Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump, which some reports rumored Trump was paying her $250,000 for each child after they split.

Stories were also swirling around the two's relationship following the release of the book Lost Tycoon:The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump in 1993, in which author Harry Hurt III referenced a 1990 court deposition that contained a statement from Ivana Trump alleging Donald Trump raped her and pulled out her hair as punishment after reportedly referring him to a plastic surgeon to tend to his bald spot.

Trump provided a statement to Hurt to counter his first wife's claims, saying that her claims were not intended to be taken literally and that she just "felt violated" following the incident.

The couple divorced in 1990 amid allegations of Trump's affair with model Marla Maples, which resulted in Ivana Trump's full custody of the three children.

Marla Maples
Years married: 6 (1993-1999)

Three years after his divorce from his first wife, Maples gave birth to the couple's only child together in 1993, Tiffany Trump (named after "Tiffany & Co"). He and Maples wed two months later.

Maples, already an established model and TV personality prior to marrying Trump, went on to co-host Trump's Miss Universe Pageant and star in a few films -- Maximum Overdrive and Executive Decision -- before they announced they separation in 1997.

The split was allegedly due to business, according to a quote from an anonymous source allegedly close to Trump in 1997.

"It shows how hard he's working, that he has no time for marriage," the source said of the then-real estate tycoon whose net worth amounted to $2.5 billion then.

Upon their split, Maples then took their daughter, Tiffany, and moved from New York to California, where she raised her alone, arranging visits between her and her father "a couple times a year" to eat dinner following their finalized divorce in 1999.

Melania Knauss-Trump
Years married: 12 (2005-present)

Though most Americans were introduced to the first couple during last year's election cycle, Donald and Melania Trump's story began almost two decades earlier when the two first met at a Fashion Week party in the late 1990s, allegedly while he was still married to Maples.

Then-model Melania Knauss went on to date the father of four for several years amid accusations claiming that she was only interested in Trump for his finances.

"She ran into Donald just at the right time. She was just about out of money, at the end of her rope and about to move back to Eastern Europe," an alleged source close to Trump is quoted in the New York Post.

"I think you can't be with the person if it's not love, if they don't satisfy you," Knauss defended herself against gold digging claims in an interview with the New York Times in 1999. "You can't hug a beautiful apartment, you can't hug an airplane, you can't talk to them."

The two would go on to later become engaged in 2004 and married the following year, welcoming their son Barron in 2006 shortly after.
