No. 4 Purdue vs. No. 5 Iowa State preview: Game time, broadcast, betting line, prediction

The Purdue Boilermakers (26-7) are the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region, and will take on the No. 5 seed Iowa State Cyclones (24-10). The game will be played at BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee at 9:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Preview: Purdue took care of business against Vermont in the first round despite a shaky start, dispatching the Catamounts 80-70. The Boilermakers are led by forward Caleb Swanigan, who averages 18.4 points per game.

Iowa State knocked off Nevada in the first round, 84-73, thanks to a near triple-double by Monte Morris who recorded 19 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. The Cyclones are led by Morris, who averages 16.4 points and 6.1 assists per game.

According to College Basketball Reference, the Boilermakers and Cyclones have faced off four times, splitting the series with two wins a piece. Iowa State won the last match-up between the two programs on December 22, 2007 83-80.

Purdue has appeared in the tournament 28 times, and the Boilermakers have advanced to two Final Fours. They have a tournament record of 35-28, and have never won a national championship.

Iowa State has appeared in the tournament 18 times, and the Cyclones have advanced to one Final Four. They have a tournament record of 18-18, and have never won a national championship.

Prediction: Led by the superb play of Monte Morris, I think the Cyclones get the win and advance to the Round of 32. Caleb Swanigan will get his double-double and disrupt Iowa State's offense—especially at the rim, but the versatile play of Morris will be too much for the Boilermakers in the end. Iowa State wins by five.
