Optical illusion of two girls stumps internet
If you feel like tricking your brain, we've got just the thing for you.
Akiyoshi Kitaoka is an experimental psychologist at Ritsumeikan University in Japan. And by the looks of his Twitter page, it would appear that Kitaoka has an affinity for confusing the internet by sharing optical illusions he creates from scratch.
One illusion of Kitaoka's in particular involving a photo of strawberries became a viral sensation recently. But we've found another one of his images that has left tweeters befuddled.

At first glance, the hair and clothes of the girl in the right image would appear to be black, where those on the left are white -- right?

Wrong.
As Kitaoka explained to confused tweeters, both depictions of the girl were made using the same RGB stripes.

The RGB color model is a complex system in which only the colors red, green and blue can be combined in a variety of ways to obtain every color within the color spectrum.
Yet, the hair and clothes somehow look different to us anyway.
Similar to Kitaoka's strawberry illusion that stumped the internet - the girl illusion is created by a phenomenon known as color constancy -- the ability to perceive colors of objects, invariant to the color of the light source.
