A bus driver in Dayton, Ohio is being commended for his compassion and quick thinking.

On February 16, Damone Hudson prevented a woman from jumping to her death, reports WDTN.

He was driving his regular route when he saw her in distress and standing at the edge of the Main Street Bridge.

Hudson stopped the bus and started talking to her, notes WHIO.

He recalls telling the woman, "Ma'am, you look like you're having a bad day, you know, can I give you a hug?"

Hudson told WHIO, "And it was just anything to get her to come back over on the other side of the rail."

His efforts were successful, as emergency services soon arrived and moved the woman to safety, notes the New York Daily News.

Hudson will be honored for his kindness and quick thinking on March 17 by the Greater Dayton RTA.
