Historically black college vandalized: 'Welcome to the Trump plantation'

Updated

On Tuesday, just one day after Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos came under fire for calling historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) "pioneers of school choice," Howard University was vandalized.

"Welcome to the Trump Plantation," the graffiti reads. "Overseer: Wayne A. I. Frederick."

DeVos issued a statement on Monday praising HBCUs as "real pioneers when it comes to school choice." The irony of the statement is that HBCUs were created as a response to the fact that African-American students didn't have the same freedom of choice for schools that their white counterparts did.
