Mike Pence's social media team is facing harsh criticism online after the official Vice Presidential Twitter account posted the Nicaraguan flag instead of the Israeli flag twice within minutes.

While Pence made a speech for the Republican Jewish Coalition Friday, his team posted two tweets with the wrong flag emoji.

Both of the @VP account's tweets voiced the Trump administration's support of Israel. And, at first glance, the emoji used in both cases appears to be the Israeli flag.

However, upon closer inspection, it's clear the emblem in the middle of the flag not the same.

For reference, the Israeli flag has a Star of David in the middle, while the Nicaraguan flag has the nation's name and its location in Central America written around the emblem.

Mashable reports the mistake was quickly deleted, but people online still took notice.

People tweeted messages like "Someone please tell the Pence social media team that's the flag of Nicaragua, not Israel" and "Betsey DeVos must've taught Mike Pence about geography bc that's definitely the flag for Nicaragua, not Israel.
