Mayor of Paris hits back after Trump insults the city
The mayor of Paris has issued a response to President Trump's recent negative remarks about the French capital, reports the Washington Post.
On Friday, Anne Hidalgo tweeted a photo of herself with Mickey and Minnie Mouse and the wry caption, "To @realDonaldTrump and his friend Jim, in [the Eiffel Tower] we celebrate the dynamism and the spirit of openness of #Paris with Mickey & Minnie."

The controversy began on Friday when Trump spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
After talking about the importance of U.S. border security, he told the crowd, "Take a look at what's happening in Europe, folks."
He then defended his controversial comments about Sweden before saying, "Take a look at what's happening in Germany, take a look at what's happened in France, take a look at Nice and Paris."
He proceeded to tell the crowd about a friend named Jim who no longer visits the city regularly because, as Trump recounted, he said, "Paris? I don't go there anymore. Paris is no longer Paris."
Hidalgo later tweeted a post in French which, according to USA Today says, "American tourist reservations are up 30% in 2017 compared to this time last year."
She also included the hashtag "Donald&Jim" with a heart emoji.
