Tooth Fairy payouts hit all time high

The Tooth Fairy is handing out more cash than ever!

Kids nowadays are getting the highest payouts of all time just for losing their teeth.

Delta Dental's been studying this for 13 years now.

Cash payouts are averaging $4.66 per tooth, compared to $1.78 a tooth in 2004, the first year of the survey.

Typically, the first tooth lost gets the biggest payout at about $5.72 in 2016.

According to the survey, the average tooth fairy payouts are comparable with how the S&P 500 grows year to year.

The tooth fairy is loaded. Last year she gave out $290 million for lost teeth.

While she mostly gives out cash, the tooth fairy also wants kids to keep their teeth healthy so occasionally she gives out toothbrushes and toothpaste as well.
