Mexican man takes his own life after deportation from US

On Tuesday morning, a Mexican man took his own life after he was deported from the U.S., reports the BBC.

45-year-old Guadalupe Olivas Valencia jumped from a bridge at the San Diego-Tijuana border roughly 30 minutes after he was left at the El Chaparral checkpoint.

This is believed to have been his third deportation, notes The Independent.

Eyewitnesses say he was incredibly upset and repeatedly said that he did not want to be back in Mexico.

Valencia was a native of Sinaloa, an area rife with violence and drug cartel activity.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the man still breathing and transported him to a hospital, where he later died.

Valencia's death comes as the White House works to expedite deportations of undocumented individuals living in the U.S., notes NBC News.
