Someone's apparently trying to hurt parkgoers in North Carolina.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that a runner was injured in Pinnacle Park.

The runner stepped on a nail that was sticking out of the ground. Another runner also stepped on a nail, but wasn't hurt.

WSPA reports that when local workers and volunteers searched the area using leaf blowers and metal detectors they found about 60 nails hammered into roots and logs.

North Carolina Department of Transportation engineer Brian Barwatt told the Citizen-Times, "It's hard to believe someone would do this and put a lot of effort in to doing this."

The trail was closed. The police department of nearby Sylva has offered a $1,000 reward for information about the case.
