Officers cook meal for lonely elderly woman in her own home

Orlando police officers often do well-being checks for elderly residents, and this day was no different.

Officer Rich Cruz and recruit Officer Gus Goncalves stopped by one woman's home to find that she was doing well, but she hadn't eaten in a while.

According to a Facebook post, they decided to spend a little extra time with her, and after looking around her apartment, they found it was "immaculate." Her fridge and pantry were full of food.

"So, recruit Officer Goncalves made her eggs for breakfast," the Orlando Police Department said in a Facebook post. "And he even did the dishes."

What was more important, though, was the time they spent bonding with the woman.

"This is the kind of work our officers do every day that often goes unnoticed," the Facebook post said.
