Weather largely dominated the headlines over the past week. Heavy snow hit the northeast United States as well as Afghanistan, where avalanches and freezing weather killed dozens.
In the U.S., we also saw continued protests against President Trump's executive orders and plans, most notably his travel ban, which was rejected by several judges.
Elsewhere in politics, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos held her first meeting with Education Department staff and Press Secretary Sean Spicer 'opened up' the briefing room by taking press questions via video call.
