Smile! More than 500 people gather for family photo-op

More than 500 members of a family gathered in Shengzhou, China to take part in a family photo session on Tuesday, January 31st to celebrate the reunion during a week-long Lunar New Year holiday, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said.

Members of the Ren family arrived from all over the country to celebrate the holiday togather at their ancestral home at Shengzhou in eastern Zhejiang province.

Ranging from the age of a few months to over 90, the family spans seven generations.

The Lunar New Year, which marks the start of the year of the rooster, sees the largest annual mass migration on earth, as hundreds of millions of workers board trains, buses, aircraft and boats to spend the festival with their families.

According to the Chinese government estimates up to 3 billion trips are made each year by people criss-crossing the country to visit family and friends on what for many in China is the only holiday of the year.
