Ivanka Trump praises Lady Gaga's Super Bowl LI performance despite presumed dig at President Trump

First family member Ivanka Trump praised pop artist Lady Gaga on Sunday night, despite a Super Bowl performance some say included subtle jabs at President Trump.

After Lady Gaga was announced as Super Bowl LI's halftime performer, speculation grew over whether the historically bold artist would make a political statement during her show.

On Sunday night, millions of viewers tuned in as the pop artist kicked off her string of songs with "God Bless America" and then"This Land Is Your Land." The later song -- a 1944 Woody Guthrie classic -- has been used as a reclamation symbol in the anti-Trump movement.

Twitter users were quick to propose these song selections as subtle yet poignant jabs at President Trump.

Despite these swirling conjectures, though, President Trump's daughter Ivanka congratulated the fellow New York native, saying the show was "incredible."

Ahead of her performance, Gaga spoke about whether she would be making any political statements during her nationally televised gig.

'Well, I don't know if I will succeed in unifying America. You'll have to ask America when it's over. But the only statements that I'll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I've been consistently making throughout my career," Gaga said in lead up to her Houston performance.

"I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality, and the spirit of this country as one of love and compassion and kindness. So my performance will have both those philosophies."
