When a love story can come from a tragedy, that's something worth celebrating. The New York Post reports a Boston Marathon survivor plans to marry the firefighter who came to her rescue.

A long distance runner herself, Roseann Sdoia had planned to spend April 15, 2013 watching runners cross the finish line at the Boston Marathon.

When the pressure cooker bombs went off, Boston firefighter Mike Materia rushed to help her and even accompanied her to Massachusetts General Hospital.

While in recovery, after her leg had been amputated, Sdoia's mother mentioned how cute the firefighter was. Sdoia didn't disagree and Materia often visited her in the hospital.

The fast friends eventually started dating and The Post reports Materia proposed to Sdoia in Nantucket last month with the help of their dog Sal.

The couple plans to wed in October or November and are set to release a book titled 'Perfect Strangers.' The book will tell the story of four lives intersecting the day of the bombings in Boston.
