Teacher bites child at Greenville trampoline park, faces assault charges

A 35-year-old teacher was arrested after she bit an 11-year-old boy when he took his friend's hat while at a birthday party on Saturday, authorities said.

Greenville police say the assault occurred at a Sky Zone trampoline park around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police reported that the victim was attending a birthday party at the park and played with one of his friends by taking his hat.

Melanie Johnson -- a fourth grade teacher at a Pickens County elementary school -- is accused of grabbing the student and biting him, shouting, "let go of his hat."

The victim's mother is said to have reported the assault to police on Sunday to the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center. The bite left a visible mark on the victim's neck.
