In response to recent restrictions placed on the scientific community in regards to dissemination of publicly-funded research, several scientists are reportedly planning a March on Washington of their very own.

A Twitter account started on Monday called March for Science has been trying to gather support for the cause, tweeting out periodic updates and rallying messages.

Apparently, the entire idea for the march started — where else? — on Reddit, where several scientists commiserating about President's Trumps policies on climate change were discussing the best way to respond to the administration's hostile attitude towards science.

As often does in the scientific community, big words and ideas led to big actions -- the march's official Twitter account has already garnered nearly 50,000 enthusiastic followers.

Judging by the star-studded turn out of the Women's March, we can only dream about the talent that may show their faces at the science march.

Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson — we're looking at you.

Marching with SO many sisters today but my heart is most proud to march with my blood sister, Angela, who has always been my guardian angel. We should all be guardians for each other. I march today because I am not afraid anymore and I hope I can be an example of fearlessness and resilience. I will not let anyone suppress me, silence me or clip my wings. For a long time I misunderstood the true definition of being a feminist, but now that I know, I am empowered! I am indisputably a feminist. I am here today to break the cycle of suppression and inequality. I stand with you all! ❤#whyimarch @womensmarch
I love women. I live for my two daughters. And I am full of pride and unity with all women today.

I ❤️LA and all of it's color, passion & diversity. I was raised to respect all people regardless of race or religion. I was raised by a single mom who taught me women are powerful & capable of all things. I am raising my own children the same. The #womensmarch is not only about women, but everyone. We need love & empathy in this world and we must stick together to keep it alive! #humanrights #womensmarchla
