President Donald Trump returned to his typical off the cuff and blunt rhetorical style as he made the rounds at various inaugural balls on Friday night.

The president made brief remarks to the crowd at the Liberty Ball alongside his wife, first lady Melania Trump, whom he described as his "number one supporter."

"What she puts up with!" he exclaimed.

"We didn't have a chance, but we knew we were going to win, and we won," he said.

He also remarked on the rainy weather, noting that forecasters had original predicted showers for most of the day, only to have the rain lighten up repeatedly.

"It's like God was looking down on us" he said.

But he also vowed to get to work.

"You're going to see things happening over the next few weeks," he said to the crowd. "Oh you're going to be so happy."

"We want to see great things happen for our country. We want to make America great again and we will"

He then began his first dance with Melania, dancing to "My Way." Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen Pence, and many of the Trump and Pence children then joined them on stage.

The families then made their way to the subsequent balls, where Trump continued his off-book remarks.

"Should I keep the the Twitter going of not?" he asked, to cheers from the crowd.

"I think so."
