The emoji message that can crash your iPhone

It's the deadly emoji message that can crash your - or your friend's iPhone.

This combination: a white flag, a zero, and a rainbow emoji - as well as an invisible character, called variation sector 16 or VS16 is the kiss of death.

A French developer told the Guardian he discovered the hack.

The invisible message signals the iPhone's Messages app to combine the two emoji into one, which cannot be done and can cause the app to crash and the phone to freeze.

And guess what, the message doesn't even have to be opened.

It will just automatically cause the phone to freeze.

It should come back once the phone reboots.

If you're running the latest software update -- IOS 10.2 -- you'll be fine, but if you're still on 10, you're in trouble.
