Police: Man posed as wife on Facebook to cover up murder

An Orlando man allegedly tried to pose as his victim to cover up her murder.

Police say George McShane, 42, used his wife Kristen's Facebook account to make others think she was still alive.

According to PEOPLE, George McShane, who lists himself as "single" on his Facebook page, posted a telling message on Jan. 7.

"I can't believe I dropped my phone in the toilet. I'm such an idiot. Message me here, til I can get it fixed," he wrote.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that McShane wrote messages to her family in friends and posted to her wall while logged into her account.

Family members alerted authorities about the woman when she stopped answering calls.

Officers arrested McShane at his home, where they found his wife's body wrapped in a blanket in the bedroom.

According to The Orlando Sentinel, he was found in his sport utility vehicle with the engine running in a garage. Police say he was trying to kill himself.

McShane has been charged with domestic battery by strangulation and second degree murder, and is being held without bond.

A GoFundMe page has been created to pay for funeral expenses and to help the McShane children, who are four and six years old.
