Why one woman is suing Chipotle for $2.2 billion

A California woman is suing Chipotle for over $2 billion for using her photo without her permission.

Leah Caldwell claims that a photo taken of her eating at a Denver Colorado Chipotle back in 2006 was used for promotional material without her permission.

Caldwell claims that she was unaware the photo was being taken, and that she refused to sign a release form presented to her by photographer Steve Adams.

But the photograph was used anyway so now Caldwell is suing for over $2.2 billion, which is how much the suit claims Chipotle made from the photo between 2006 and 2016.

Caldwell's also pretty annoyed with them for allegedly editing the photo to add alcoholic beverages into the photo , which she says associates her with drinking alcohol.

The number doesn't even include Chipotles 2016 profits - which they plan on adding to the lawsuit when they're made public.

So it looks like a picture isn't worth a thousand words but actually 2billion dollars.
